In Memoriam

Patsy Ann Williams Brantly, 23 Apr 1938 - 12 Nov 2024

Patsy "Pat" Brantly, 86, of Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was welcomed into eternal rest with God. Born in Johnson City, Pat was the daughter of the late Ted and Margie Williams. She was a beloved sister to Terry Bailey, June Silver, and the late Jerry Williams. Pat graduated from Science Hill High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She had a lifelong love of learning and a strong work ethic. In her early life, Pat married Augustus Brantly, and they had two children, Katharine Garland and Philip Brantly, residing together in Greeneville, TN. During this time, Pat worked as a production coordinator at Weavexx. Later, she moved to Greenville, SC, where she spent many years working for Wagner, a paper manufacturing company, before returning to Johnson City to care for her mother. Pat lived her life fully. She was beautiful, youthful, and vibrant, with a fondness for Pepsi, sports of all kinds-especially bowling, basketball and football-and a love of fashion. Her home brought her joy, but her greatest love was for her friends and family. Pat never worried, even when faced with many challenges. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, overcoming the odds with resilience. In 2019, she faced another breast cancer diagnosis, followed by an ovarian cancer diagnosis just six months later. Pat continued to fight with grace and grit, always more concerned with the well-being of others than her own struggles. She spent her final five years celebrating holidays and birthdays, filling each moment with laughter and joy. One of her highlights was attending her class reunion every year. During her time in hospice, she was constantly surrounded by love and care. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Ted Williams; mother, Margie Williams; former husband, Augustus Brantly; brother, Jerry Williams; and her dear great-grandchildren infant twins Ruby and Emerson Newell. She is survived by her daughter, Katharine (Ronnie) Garland of Johnson City; son, Philip (Bobbie-Jo) Brantly of Lexington, SC; sisters, Terry Bailey of Johnson City, TN, and June (Alan) Silvers of Morristown,TN ; niece, Shannon Townsend of Johnson City (Johnny, Bailey, and Briley); Nephews Chad Silver of Florida, and Shane Bailey of Florida, and Kelly Williams (Della) of Morristown, TN, grandchildren, Macy Cox (Greg, Bridges, and Thatcher) Of Johnson City, TN and Marah Newell (David and Bowie) of Johnson City, TN; along with several cousins and her lifelong friend, Linda Malone. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pat's devoted sister, Terry Bailey, as well as the compassionate nurses of Hillview of Elizabethton-Teresa, Amanda, Gail, Donna, and Yvette. Special thanks to Dr. Dharman Patel, MD, and Abby, NP, at Tennessee Cancer Specialists of Johnson City. In accordance with her wishes, Pat made an anatomical gift to ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
